I spoke with Remington today, they still do not have a time frame for the reintroduction.............I called UNCLE and requested my money back.

To wait any longer is unacceptable

I stated before I truly believe this is what the former great company Remington wants to happen, either a refund or the R1 swap.

Smart move BTW now go get a Ruger LC9S for about the same price.

Well, 384 days has passed since my last long email to Remington, so, I've written again this afternoon. I hope someone there will take the initiative to answer, not to include anyone from Marketing or Sales. I don't suppose anyone out there has heard any specifics or anything more than "generic" answers from Remington.

I found this interesting, there is no R51 listed in the new 2016 remington product catalog.

Yes, it is still in the catalog. Funny thing though, under "key features", the 4th item listed is "Double Diamond Walnut Wood Grips". They flubbed the R51 and are trying to recover. The least they can do is proofread the advertising of this ill-fated situation and at least get its description correct. I sent them a letter about that very same error... You think they fixed that? Hell no!
Meanwhile, I ran 300 rounds through my new Sig Sauer Ultra Two-Tone and Colt Talo Night Defender today. Right out of the box, they ran like a fine pair of Swiss watches. The Colt hiccuped on a couple of Perfecta (Fiocchi) cases. I'll try some real Fiocchi next time, but it absolutely loves Remington UMC. That's my main range ammo anyway for all my semi-auto centerfire handguns.
And so, my 1300 rounds of 9mm sits in the case it came in, waiting for a nice 9mm "something" to magically appear into my range case. Maybe a successful R51???

I checked again. I am certain the R51 model is NOT in the 2016 Remington Catalog. Their digital catalog is at the bottom-center on their main page and the only handguns listed are the "1911 R1", "1911 R1 Enhanced", "1911 R1 Carry", and the "RM380". The catalog is different than the Remington handgun web page.

Its their first step at trying to push the R51 under the rug for 2016, they probably just forgot to take it off their handgun webpage as well.....by the end of the year they probably wont even acknowledge they even made such a model.

A few days ago I noted the R51 was not included in their 2016 digital catalog. Today the R51 is not on their website at all. See my previous post, last paragraph.....guess whats next! Yep, Remington will completely forget anything R51, it was all just a bad dream.....

What a shame.

But the big question is what is Remington telling the people who are still waiting on their repaired/rebuilt/replaced R51s?

Good question, I do know they are not contacting their customers as they should. You have to call and ask, and from what I have both heard and read, the answers vary depending which call center rep you talk to. Certainly raises an eyebrow when this time of year (with SHOT show) companies are showcasing/advertising their new and updated products and Remington removes the R51 from their product list. Hmmm. Hopefully after SHOT there will be some answers but I'm guessing their reps will stay tight lipped, have generic answers regarding the R51. Heck, maybe they will build up hype of a new redesigned model for this year (haven't we heard that before?!?) just to keep us all on the Big Green leash.....

Does anyone have a better number or email address than the "Customer service" listed on the website?

R-51 Gen II... Ready to go...??? That's music to my ears. I'll tag along and listen to the range reports. If all is well, I'll go by another one.

Mine is en route to my FFL as I type this, hope it gets here soon because I been losing sleep.

Now, in the meantime, if I can just figure out how to post pictures on here...

You better figure that out quick! We need pics!

You can use places like photobucket. I use a mobile app, Tapatalk to view forums and it has it's own image hosting

Got my call from my FFL holder today about noon. Going in the morning to pick it up. It has been a long two years.

Congrats-

Let us know what you think. How long did it take to receive your R51 from submitting FFL info to Remington to yesterday? How do we go about getting reimbursed for our FFL transfer?

I think its odd that some people received a phone call and others got an email. My email was on 6/22 and submitted FFL info on 6/23.

tick tock tick tock.....

I now have my replacement. Quite truly I didn't think it would ever happen.

My FFL faxed his info to Remington on 23 Jun, and he received the pistol yesterday 29 Jun.

First impressions:
The action is smother than the original.
Fit and finish is OK.
Trigger is a disappointment. Not only is it plastic, but it has a significant amount of wobble from side to side like the pivot hole is too big.
No information on how to receive reimbursement for the FFL transfer fee.
No proof that I really own the weapon, which is strange. I don't have a bill of sale, or receipt, or any such thing. Just filled out the paperwork and the FFL gave me the box containing the pistol, extra magazines, and fancy case.

Plan to test fire it this afternoon.

Their advertising cut sheet says, and I quote, "TOP-END TRIGGER Crisp, clean polymer trigger features virtually no side-to-side play and a flawless reset."

So, apparently, the one you received doesn't meet the manufacturer's specifications. When are you going to send it back in for repair and/or replacement?

Ya, not planning on sending it back to Remington to wait another two years. I'll wait and see if someone come out with a replacement trigger and have my local gunsmith install.

Otherwise, shot a box of Remington fmj through it last night and it functioned fine. Also shot a magazine of Remington Critical Defense and it functioned fine also. Need to clean it now and see how it looks inside.
