Got it several days ago and had the crud ever since. Just now coming out of it. Nice weather has come and gone. Might be able to shoot some this coming weekend. Will post my findings w/ pics. Looks like a very nice pistol. Got it all cleaned and lubed and ready to go.

I just had to have the remington r1 limited 1911 45 acp 100th anniversary model. Don't guess I'll ever fire it, but it sure is pretty to look out once in a while after I drag it out of the safe! I suppose you could call it a safe queen, but I sure would like to feel how it shoots!

I wanted the blued version, but the shop only had the Stainless in stock and on sale when I bought mine. Like the subdued/beaded look of the finish, looks good, and it doesn't seem to scratch as easy as my blued guns do.

Just got this same gun today from Cabelas in Lone Tree, Colo. Love the way this feels, much better than the Sig or Kimber. This is 5" bbl. Curious, but they had the stainless at $50 off, which put it at only $10 more than the blued. No brainer for me, I love the stainless handgun look (own a Ruger SP 101 .357 in stainless also). Would have preferred a 4.25 bbl for better/easier conceal, but not a show stopper. This is my 1st 1911 and wanted something that looks a bit more "traditional" like I carried in the Army in early 70's. Can't wait for the next range trip! And Remington has a mail in promotion for .45 cal purchases until end of August for 200 rounds of ammo. That's like another $100 off. |

Me too, that more than anything else was the selling point for me. All the other 1911's are starting to look alike. It definitely adds up to a good buy, a $188 off the guns price to me. |

Enhanced Stainless would probably be my choice, but I haven't handled any of the Remington 1911s. The finish could change my mind to blue after I look at them. I have my Colt 1991 Government Model 80 Stainless w/ 5" match barrel which is one of a limited batch of about 50 pistols built for the Duke Brigade. It runs with such precision & accuracy that I'd be afraid of being disappointed in the performance of other 1911s. My "DUKE" is every bit as much in performance & accuracy as my brother's Gold Cup. Will I be satisfied with a Remington? Doesn't cost so much to find out, I suppose, since the R1s are so inexpensive.

Well, I just got back from Vegas once more. It's time to take "DUKE" out for a range trip. Just can't decide if it'll be a 'pleasure shoot' or a 'precision shoot' this time. My post-coffee nerves will have to decide that on Thursday. Even though my flinch-factor is near '0', I guess I'll take my tack driving S&W 22A-1 out and shoot it 1st to test my nerve's skill for the day. Funny though, you don't really know how you're going to do on a target some days until you get started punching the holes. The good ol' human element, huh?

Thanks Shooter. I ended up going to the range on Wednesday since it was "Ladies Day" there. I took my sister to shoot the new Sig P238 I bought for her. She's a "Wheel-gun Girl", but she's been converted now.
Turns out, it was a 'precision shoot' after all. At 15 yds, Ol' DUKE cut the black 10-centers out of a 16 target page, leaving only the manila paper and 9-rings-n-below intact. Next trip, I'm going to punch out a message on the target in "Dot Matrix" fashion. Dotting the "i"s should be a fun & interesting challenge. |
