Anyone left out there that did not take the cash or R1 refund and still waiting on their R51? Last I was told they would be sending them out second quarter sometime. Well the 2Q has begun, anything? Has anyone contacted Remington recently for an update or time frame?

remmy, I'm in with you..............shipped mine back on 5/23/2014, received by Remington 5/27/2014. Seems like having almost a year elapse since I shipped it back an occasional update would have been the very least that I could expect.
I'm gonna wait it out I guess but if the pistol won't work right when I get it back, well let's just say I'll be a whole lot more VOCAL Macgre |

I saw a review of their new RM389 pocket pistol. They acknowledged that they have an uphill battle to gain people's trust after the R51 rollout. They said the R51 will start shipping when the RM380 does.

I admire your guy's tenacity, I sold my R51 back well over a year ago. My XDs has been flawless. The slide even works. Good luck to you all!

They have had mine since 4-9-14 and I'm getting the same answer "sometime the second Quarter" well it is nearly June so we will see...
This was from an email March 16th "The Model R51 is scheduled to be released sometime during the 2nd quarter of 2015. Customers who have sent their gun back in will be shipped a replacement R51 first. Thank you, Remington Consumer Service" |

Today's email
"The Model R51 is scheduled for release sometime during the 2nd quarter of 2015. Most likely they will be released in June." |

I took the 1911 R1 for my 1st R51 and since my son got the 2nd one running smoothly and reliably, I just gave it to him. I'll wait until I hear that the "New" R51 is out, alive & healthy, and has established a good track record. I have more guns than I need anyway, so I'm in no hurry. My 96 year old Model 51 (.380 ACP) still needs its new younger brother in the rack beside it whether I shoot it or not. I have my other pleasure shooters and precision shooters.

Tue 05/12/2015 8:59 AM...this just in!
Good morning, The R51s are in production and scheduled for release the latter part of June. Best Regards, Consumer Services Thank you and best regards, Remington Customer Services ...this response is similar to one recently posted above. There is also the new RM380 that is supposed to hit the market at the same time. It is a remake of the Rohrbaugh 380 (Remington Group purchased Rohrbaugh last year) with some changes to reduce recoil and reduce price. Check out the new Remington 2015 catalog. The first 1000 are supposed to have a Stainless Slide with the engraving of the "commemorative 1st Alabama Inaugural Product model. This edition will have a black frame and stainless steel slide and barrel for a sharp two-tone look along with a black engraving on the forward section of the slide. The Alabama edition will come with a commemorative challenge coin and production will be limited to just 1000 pistols." - See more at:http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2015/04/05/gun-review-new-remington-rm380/#sthash.iZYWLICH.dpuf Patiently waiting to be the R51 Gen 2 beta tester... still patiently waiting, shoT3 |

I'm sure that I'm one of only a handful of people that opted to wait it out, but I did hear some promising news today. I called Remington and they informed me that production has begun on the replacement R-51s. The representative said that I could call back in 2-3 weeks and they could possibly give me a date that I could expect to receive the pistol that I've been waiting on for 16 months. Hopefully they were telling me the truth this time. I've got my fingers crossed that this one won't perform as poorly as the first one did. Mine suffered from the sliding rear sight, FTEs, and it would drop the mag every couple of shots. First time poster here, and it's nice to have some potentially good news to report.

I sent my R51 in and took the R1 in trade BUT still going to get another R51 when they are available. Been checking this forum every day for months on end. Mine had only a couple issues yet it was comfortable to shoot and accurate. Sure hope the old mags will fit the new gun, I have 4 of them!!

AND...They screwed us AGAIN!!! Today's Email "
Good Morning, Unfortunately they moved production to the end of the summer. We do not have a firm date as production schedules are subject to change. Thank you and best regards, Remington Customer Services" |

Seems time takes care of everything and I hope the R51 saga falls under "Everything". Having purchased 2 of the first 3500 R51s built, I returned one and traded for the 1911 R1, which, by the way, is every bit as much gun as my Colt 1991 Stainless. I gave the 2nd one to my son as he got it running quite well. I WILL be buying a 3rd one after they've proven reliable. They have already proven their superb accuracy and comfort. The Pedersen design has proven itself almost 100 years ago as I can attest from shooting my old Model 51 in .380ACP. Built in 1919, it has provided me 50+ years of accurate & reliable pleasure shooting and confidence as a concealed carry pistol. Never had a malfunction or misfire with it. There's no reason that the revival of the old Model 51 can't carry the same reputation with the R51, providing Remington will do the right thing(s) in the manufacturing processes. I'm still very excited about this new model being a success. I love a gun with a "passive" safety system. |

Guess I'll just have to get a H&K P30SKS in the mean time...

Thanks for the welcome Sure hoping to be an R51 owner! Maybe a RM380 later. I sold my last sub compact to get an R51, then the recall happened before I could get one. Been waiting ever since. |
