Trying to find information on this Remington .22 pump rifle. Pedersen Patent. Letters RG over serial number 181xx on the bottom of the frame. I think it might be a Model 12 C . Looking to confirm it is a model 12C, when it might have been made and est. value. Any information anyone can provide would be appreciated

Welcome to the Remington Owners Forum BarkeyVA !!

Manufactured between 1909 thru 1936...there are six model configurations in the Remington Model 12 Series, with several variations within the 12C model. The standard Model 12 rifle was a pump action .22 and had a walnut stock, with either a shotgun-type or crescent buttplate. Deluxe varieties have checkered forearms and stocks, and may have other added features ( like engraving), as different options were available directly from the Remington factory.

Barrel length is one criteria that will be used to differentiate among the different Model Configurations of the Remington Model 12. Barrel length is measured from the end of the barrel tip (below the front sight), to the end of the barrel threads (beyond where the barrel inserts into the receiver in the middle of the gun).

If your gun is is blued and does NOT have engraving, has a pump action with an OCTAGON barrel that is 24" long, and the stock is plain walnut, with a curved metal buttplate, and the forearm is also plain-grooved walnut....then it is a Model 12C.

Other variations include a Model 12C NRA Target (limited production) and a Model 12CS that was chambered for the .22 Remington Special.

(BTW...a Model 12B is a .22 short gallery rifle...the 12D Peerless, 12E Expert, and 12F Premier all had some type of engraving.)

If what is printed in the third paragraph above is true to your rifle, estimated worth depends on condition, which by my source, uses the NRA Grading System:

Excellent.........Very Good............Good........Fair
$500............... $425.................. $350....... $250

Let me know what you think...

I also have that same model and I do believe it is one of the 12C variants, the difference on yours is it appears to have a replacement rear site. Mine is also .22 S/L/LR Looks like it might be a Marbles sight. Great Looking Rifle.
I sure would like to see a closer picture of that tang sight. Looks interesting, does not look like the lymans for this model ?
