No problem Sir,

The mag release relief notch is an add-on option, but can be cut into any of their grips. I had to have it on mine. Makes mag changes a LOT smoother and faster...

Not that it's worth a damn, but your VZGrips get my stamp of approval. :ugeek:

I'm going to have to add this to the list of parts to buy when I finally get my Remington R1. Gotta love NY.

L.E.S. ~

Are you one day planning to add a magwell to that pistol? Just curious since you got the flat bottom grips. That is one serious fighting pistol just the way it is.

Haven't decided yet, but I figured I'd keep my options open. Still haven't had the pistol out to the range yet. I may end up liking it just the way it is and not change a thing...

Finally got out to the range with the Rock Island MS 1911a1 this morning.

Image

Image

Took it out with the new SIG P220 and let a few fly. Only a few 'cause it was so damn cold outside I couldn't feel my fingers and reloading the mags was almost impossible. Still, it shot well. Feeding and extraction were flawless. The trigger is a little spongy compared to my other 1911s, but I must say that I am VERY impressed with this pistol. For an entry level 1911 with a 4" barrel it shot like a champ. Here's one of my best groups at 25yds...

Image

Just goes to show that you don't have to drop a bundle on a 1911 to get a solid shoot'n pistol. We'll see how she holds up over time, but I am extremely pleased so far...

Got out and put 250rds through the Spartan this morning. I have to say I'm VERY pleased with its performance. Had zero issues an no failures of any kind. The Spartan locks up tight as a drum and the action is smoothe as silk. The trigger is light and crispas well. Recoil is very minimal which allows for very fast target acquisition on follow-up shots. The adjustable rear sight was dialed in from the start and the fiber optic front post lit up like a laser. I love my .45 1911s, but this 9mm is one helluva fun shooter.

Here are two of the best targets of the day...

Ten rounds @ 10yds

Thirty rounds @ 25yds

Just installed a new 4140 bar stock steel mainspring housing with 30 LPI checkering and oversized magazine guide on the Spartan V. Also added extended bumper pads to the Checkmates. Reloads are going a lot smoother and faster now...

Switched out the grips on the RIA today to a new set of VZ Grips ETC-FRAG G10 panels in Dirty Olive...

I love the dual texture of the ETC panels and the FRAG pattern provides an incredibly solid grip...

I have inherited a Remington 1911 and would like to know what model and when it was built. It is in a plastic green case, has a spare clip, and the multi-tool. Ser# RH27456A.
Thanks for the help!!

Welcome to the Remington Owners Forum !!

Does it have R1 on the slide ?! That would be the "model"...

Build date would be recent...last few years at most.

How exciting! Not every day one has the opportunity to get a cherished memento of someones life, and a 1911 at that!

I'm certain it's quite recent production if the s/n on the green plastic case matches the pistol.

Here's how to nail it down....
