Hello all,
I'm new to the forum and was pleased to find it. I have a question about adding a sling mount to my 7600. Most of the sling mounts I have seen for the front of the gun are attached to the barrel, with the barrel being a floating design I have been reluctant to use that type of mount. Could a barrel sling mount effect the performance of my gun over time? Is there another method/type of front sling mount? I love my 7600!
Thanks for any input, info, or advice.

I just recently bought a new 7600 and ran into the same problem with sling mounting on the barrel after some research i found that the best setup for the barrel sling is "Uncle Mikes" part # 1391-2 it has a split ring for the barrel fits .630-.675 barrel diam. the fit is good and does not affect performance, the old guns had a replacement screw in the forearm tube for the sling but now with the new guns the entire fore arm moves and the old set up does not work plus no one has came up with anything other than barrel bands,be carefull of solid one pc barrel bands as alot of them do not fit good and you end up messing up the barrel getting it on and most of them don't fit to well. The 1391-2 part is acctually for a winchester 94 or marlin 336 but it fits well as suggested by one of the other gun forums.

Is it feasible to attach the sling mount to the front end of the slide?

2 Years Later......just in case anyone has concern.
7600 barrel is secured firmly to the receiver. I'm thinking it wouldn't matter to have a mount clamped to it. I've seen people attach it to the forend bolt.....I would never do that, it may tweak the action assembly. This is what I like, It's like having a versital bipod/sling.
