Hello, i have a model 700 in the 30-06 cartridge, and from what I have been able to find out by the barrel markings of LP, it was manufactured in February of 1967 or 1995. I don't believe the stock is original, so is there anyone who can tell me what other difference's there are between the 1967 and the 1995 model 700. Thank you for your time and effort.

Hello again, I see my original post has been viewed over 60 times, but no responses. Am i doing something wrong?

You're not doing anything wrong. I just don't know what all they changed and did differently in the 30 years they were making them in question.
As for the barrels alone, probably not much changed at all between them. When people ignorant of guns make gun laws, you end up with ignorant gun laws.

Great, thanks for the reply. I also have a Remington 721 with a very interesting detachable scope. It is almost like a quick couple for hydraulics. Its knurled in the middle and for grip then you slide and twist to remove /install the scope. Anyone heard of anything like that? The 721 left side barrel markings are XLww. when i look that up the years do not match the manufacturer dates of the 721 according to BBGV. the serial number on it is 1089XX. Any help with this one?

No, I have never seen or heard of anything like that. Would be interested in seeing it though. I always appreciate learning something new.

Wish they would have gone by serial instead of the M_N_O bull. If a barrel has been replaced down the road one may never know. Bought my 1100 in 1980. Looks like and O or Q. Luckily I bought new so I was sure that 1979 was the date of manufacture. Sure appreciate the glossy bluing over that god awful matte finishes these days.
