With that said, one of the things that is routine for me, is to dump any unused powder out of the hopper and back into the jug that it came in when I finish loading a batch of shells.
This prevents excess moisture getting in the powder from leaving it sitting long term in the basement and also helps me not forget which type of powder it is if it's a while before I load again.
Well, with the way the loader has an open top for both the powder and the shot, this makes it difficult at best to not make a huge mess.
So, I took a few minutes and used a pencil and piece of paper to trace the top of the hopper and made a little piece of wood to slide down in the top to block off each half of the hopper so I can dump the powder back into the jug without making a mess.
The wooden caps fit pretty snug but I left them loose enough so that I can use the little drawer pulls to put them in and take them out.
I don't know why Lee doesn't make a little cap that does the same thing.
I know that I'm not the only one who doesn't like leaving the powder in there that I don't use.
