Hello fellow members,
While I am new to this forum, I have owned a Remington 870 for several years. I have used it for trap shoots, etc. but have never really considered it a home protection weapon. I have instead used a variety of pistols and rifles. However, of late I have been reading more about it's benefit as a home protection weapon. So, I recently bought a second 870, this time leaning more toward the tactical side. I have added some Magpul furniture (ie. stock, forend) and have added a nice side saddle as well. I look forward to learning from all of you as to other additions and tips.
thanks,
choatecav

I my opinion a shotgun with a pistol grip and low recoil 00's is the best home defense there is!
The pistol grip will make it short enough to turn vertically in a hall, the 00 will shoot far enough down a long hall. you don't need much aim and they won't end up in your neighbors house. I have a 9 in a hand safe by the bed and a shotgun in the closet, if I hear something downstairs I would feel my wives ... to make sure she's still there grab the shotgun and bring it to the top of the stairs and cock it. The sound alone should make anyone sane leave they can carry out whatever they can I don't care that much just go. |
