It has been VERY quiet on this R51 forum section. No one has anything else to say? :mrgreen:

Still love mine. Still glad I got the first one in town. Still love how it shoots, looks, feels, carries, etc...

I just put another 120 rounds through mine today. Third time at the range with it. This time I wanted to use my own reloads-I like to do the break-in with factory stuff and it had about 200 rounds of white box through it previously. I was careful to only use once-fired brass from the break-in period as I've had issues with reloading 9mm before. My go-to 9mm load is 4.4 grains of titegroup pushing a 115-gr fmj. That shot dead-on point of aim and was very reliable. There was 1 failure to feed the bottom round from a Gen 1 magazine and one failure to extract late in the day. Everything else cycled and shot fine. No abnormalities in the fired brass. No nose dives. I also wanted to see how it fed hollowpoints and heavier bullets so I loaded up 25 rounds with Hornady XTP 147 grain JHP's pushed by 3.4 grains of titegroup. These all fed and cycled flawlessly. Oddly, the heavier ostensibly slower bullets shot about 5-7 inches low at 15 yards-surprisingly low and counterintuitive since usually in semis it's the slower bullets that shoot higher. Not sure what is happening but probably need to chrono the load as well. I'll use a slower powder next time as TiteGroup is really not optimal with the heavier bullets. The take-down/reassembly went a lot smoother today, I think everything is getting worked in.

Hey Boomer,
I don't reload, above my pay grade. but I have tried just about every cartridge made in my
R51. I even shot a 300 round box of Winchester USA Forged steel casing ammo. Never a hiccup with
anything I put in it, and I have had my doubts about some of the weird looking FMJ stuff.
My carry load in the R51 is Ruger ARX Polycoat. Light recoil and really good stopping power.
At least it stopped the watermelon that viciously attacked me. :=}

Ditto on the same ammo in my Ruger SR1911. My carry of choice in the Winter.
Summer I carry my R51. I think winter in Texas fell on a Thursday this year. :lol:
