I have a brand new RM380, unfired. It will not chamber Federal Hydra Shok JHP, 90 grain, Low Recoil ammo. Appears to hang up on the cannelure indentations on the cartridge case. Called Remington yesterday - they said use different ammo. Email sent to Remington today - waiting on a reply. It chambers 90 grain FMJ rounds without a problem. No obvious burrs on the feed ramp or chamber mouth. Anybody else have this problem?
The gun should be able to handle hi-quality ammo without failing to chamber the round.

All guns are individual animals. What works in one may not work in another identical gun. Try polishing the feed ramp with a dremel tool and a felt tip. I used Mother's Mag polish and have a mirror finish. This will slick up the feed ramp and MAY solve your problem. Also there may be better ammo than the Hydra Shoks. I have been using the Ruger ARX ammo with no problems. Ball ammo and the Remington Golden Sabers also have worked fine.

Remington is having the gun shipped to a repair facility to evaluate why it won't chamber the rounds and will have it corrected (hopefully). Federal is evaluating the ammo for being within spec. So far, excellent customer service. Will see what the solution turns out to be.

I carry the Hornady 90 gr XTP or the Fiocchi 90 gr XTP. Both feed with no problems what so ever. The little pocket 380's are sometimes ammo sensitive. The Diamond Back DB380 I traded for the RM380 wouldn't run anything reliably.

Got my RM380 back on Friday. They replaced the extractor. Gun now manually cycles Hornady Critical Defense and FMJ round nose with no problem. Have not had a chance to make it to the range yet. The Federal Hydra Shok's that were the original problem were returned to Federal for their evaluation. No problem found with ammo, but they sent me a check to replace the ammo. Federal is a first class outfit in my book.
Repair shop said the gun should handle Hydra Shoks now without problems. Hope to get to the range very soon. Only disappointment was repair shop kept telling me the gun was fixed and would ship "tomorrow". Took a week and a half for "tomorrow" to finally arrive. Mudpuppy
