I'm thinking about getting the Remington 783 and I was wondering is it a great rifle for target practice?

Recoil is a personal perception...what would be bothersome to one would not be to another.
Having said that...if you can take the recoil of a 12 gauge Mossberg...the .270 should not be a problem, especially when bench rested for precision target shooting like you intend. The .270 Winchester (or 6.9x64mm) was developed by Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1923 and unveiled in 1925 as a chambering for their bolt-action Model 54. The cartridge is a necked down .30-03. When loaded with a bullet that expands rapidly or fragments in tissue, this cartridge delivers devastating terminal performance. |
