So, I have found that the lower edge of the trigger guard is a little "sharp". It can somewhat irritate the side of the middle finger of the shooting hand. I'm not sure yet if I really need to work on this.

If I take a file or stone and round the edge just a little I will get a shiny stripe where I rounded the edge.

I did a test on the inside edge of the magwell to see what happens. I used a small jeweler's file to file a small section of the edge of the magwell. The edge can be rounded easily. I then used Birchwood-Casey Aluminum Black to re-black the filed section.

The filed section did turn black again and matches the black of the original finish but the file made the filed section a little shiny-er than the original finish. I need to use a coarser tool or stone to do the edge to get a closer match the rest of the finish. In any case, the Birtchwood-Casey Aluminum Black did blacken the aluminum frame and can be used to touch up any marks that may happen. Works well on ARs also.

I just did two things. First, I polished the barrel feed ramp. It wasn't shiny and I don't know of any semi-auto pistol that won't benefit from a polished feed ramp.

Next, I rounded the lower edge of the trigger guard. Interesting to note is that the upper edge inside the trigger guard was already rounded.

I took a small jeweler's file and removed the sharp corner that was bothering my fingers by just filing a 45 degree edge on the lower edge of the trigger guard. I then used 400 grit sand paper to get an even finish to the area I filed. Next, I cleaned the edge with 91% isopropanol. Then I blackened the edge with Birchwood-Casey Aluminum Black. I recleaned the edge and oiled the area. See the photos.

Keep in mind that we all hold a gun slightly differently and our hands are different sizes. What bothers my hands may not bother yours. Remember that it is very easy to modify the pistol to your needs and make it more yours. It's also fun to do.

This is GREAT news!!!

For me, the inside edge of the trigger guard pinches my trigger finger on discharge. I've been hesitant to do any mods, but now that I know the color can be adjusted... I won't be afraid to try some things.
