Just caught a review in American Rifleman mag. on Winchester's XPR rifle. Glad to report it shoots better than it looks. Tested in .270 Win cal. with the new Winchester poly tip ammo and did produce good groups. Bolt looks a grey piece of unfinished dull metal. Stock is synthetic of course and contoured for grip. Barrel length is 24 inches. God only knows where this one is made maybe Turkey or Brazil. Sickening they cannot be made here at the old plant in Conn. If I was looking for a econo rifle I would sure look elsewhere. What turns me off mostly is that plastic mag and trigger guard. Price is around $550. Glad I bought my Model 700 back when they were made with walnut and high polish bluing. Looks like a work of art compared to some now. Our models from years back used to be middle of the road guns. Now it seems the older stuff from 30 years back is high end!

Your very welcome Shooter. I am only giving my opinion and do not own the rifle. It did shoot impressive groups and I am sure that is what matters to many hunters. Good rifle for inclement weather perhaps. The overall finish I found to be lacking in my opinion |
