Here is an article about Remington's recall on the Versa Max and how they managed to still get Shotgun Of The Year

Liked the article. I also agree that a recall notice shows strength not weakness. Some of the replys did bother me. One guy said the forearm was loose duh tighten the forearm nut. I will say the new Vmax needs to be totally cleaned and the action needs oil and repeated working also clean the trigger group and inspect. The last thing to do is to lightly oil the spring in the butt stock to stop the cheap rough squeeking sound. Now the new gun feels like 2000 dollars.

I have only owned my Versa Max for 4 weeks, I take it skeet shooting every weekend, This is the first gun that I have ever owned that FIT me properly, with the amount of adjustment available to you there is no reason to ever have a poor fitting gun again. It points beautifully, like an extension of your body. My wife is very much in love with shooting this gun as well but there is a real fit issue for her since she is 5'5" and I am 6'2". She will not shoot the old 58 Sportsman anymore, she has demanded her own Versa Max and I should be in tomorrow. So now we will have the waterfowl and realtree versions!
