I don't seem to have nearly enough hands nor small enough hands to reassemble my 600. Anybody have any hints on a quick and easy way to do it? I'm a little perplexed as to which way up the magazine spacer is supposed to be as it simply fell out while dissembling..

Welcome to the Remington Owners Forum Leon !!
Plenty of videos are available if you google or bing "Reassembly of the Remington Model 600" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ya8FFMd ... r_embedded |

At first blush there appears to be you-tube videos on assembly/re-assembly of the 600, but when you get in to them, not so much. Most deal with just the bolt issue. Then some deal with dis-assembly, but I am still to find one on re-assembly

Well, I spent my $3.99 for the download. What I got was 4 pages on dis-assembly and a single page with 4 reassembly tips/pictures, all dealing with trigger and bolt. Absolutely nothing about how to capture the magazine box, follower with spring and 222 Rem spacer while putting the action, floor-plate and screws in place at the same time. Before buying the site reads that if there's nothing about reassembly, simply reassembly going through the dis-assembly steps backward. The problem is, upon dis-assembly the follower spring throws the parts all over the place. Try as I might, I can't just throw them back together. If there were some way to hold the follower spring compressed while assembling, then release it after assembly is complete, that might get the job done. However, I can't figure how to do that. Darned one-piece floorplate!!!! #@&%!&^%#!

Take it to a gunsmith...I tried to help !!

And I appreciate your trying to help. However, I finally knuckled down and got it. Used a fine wire to hold the follower spring compressed so it didn't try to push tings apart during reassembly, then when together, through the ejection port of the action, cut the wire and fished it out. Tight squeeze, delicate work, got lucky and got all the wire back but it's done. There must be a better way. Probably some sort of very special tool was used at the factory. I now know why replacement trigger guards with removable floor plates are sold for the 600.

Congrats...take it to the range yet !?

Not been to the range since repair, but it cycles rounds fine. I've had this one for maybe 20 years. Had never had it out of the stock before. Took it out to verify if it had the trigger mod program - or not. It had, but learned I didn't need to take it out of the stock to determine that. Remington says that if the bolt can be opened and closed while on safe, it's had the program.
