My friend has a Remington 721 in 264Mag that when you go to unload the gun the live round in the chamber goes off just about every time. Has anyone experienced this problem?

Welcome to the Remington Owners Forum Maynard Shooter !!

If I were you...I would tell your friend to run that gun to a gunsmith...that's too dangerous to mess around with.

That's true but the funds aren't there. He lives in the Adirondacks leaves it loaded behind the refrigerator. He has about 800 yards of field behind his house and it will reach and kill a white tail at that range.

800 yards? Wow, that's a hell of a shot.

That's why he's using a 264MAG and not his 243WIN

No doubt his magnum could do it. I couldn't, or would not trust myself to kill a deer at that range.

Sounds like one of the new expanded trigger recalls. None of my Remington Bolt Action Rifles have Remington Triggers on them any more.
