Hi all - newbie to the forum and to rifles.
After some exhaustive research on which my first rifle should be (between a 700 and a Winchester 70 Featherweight), I'm 95% certain I'm going with a Remington (.270 caliber) for two main reasons - made in the USA and a few more possibilities to accessorize then the Winchester.
My question is not sure whether to go with a BDL or CDL (I like both stocks); specifically it's about the Monte Carlo. I had the opportunity to handle (not shoot) a BDL with a scope (that has a MC) and it felt as if my face was pushed away from line of sight (of the scope). I can't find a CDL to handle but was able to handle the Winchester without a scope (and w/o a MC) and it felt a little more comfortable.
Rifle will be used for target practice for the next 3-4 years then I plan on getting into hunting. So...am I putting too much thought whether or not to have the Monte Carlo or will I adapt/adjust accordingly to the rifle with or without a MC?
Thanks for your input.

Well...my 2 cents:
I own two Remington rifles...a Model 7600 pump action chambered in 30-06 ( with the conventional walnut stock ) and a model 700BDL bolt action chambered in 7mm Rem Mag ( with the Monte Carlo stock ). I find both to be comfortable to shoot...and don't find that the MC stock pushed my check weld out of line with my scope. But...to each his own...so, try to find the type of stock that fits your style of shooting the best and practice, practice, practice !! Enjoy the forum...!! |
