About 15-20 years ago, I bought some things from a guy at work that was retiring and downsizing. He asked me if I wanted an old .22 so that was added to the deal. I've never fired it and can't imagine ever finding ammunition for it at a reasonable price. I thought someone might appreciate seeing this old gem. Maybe someone can tell me what year it was made. Serial is 21XX.

Welcome to the Remington Owners Forum McD !!

The Remington Model 16 was made between 1914 and 1928.

(Sorry...I can't break it down by serial number in my book.)

Now, .22 ammo isn't that expensive...just a little hard to find !!

Thanks for the welcome. Unfortunately, the model 16 doesn't shoot .22 long, long rifle, or short. It was chambered for a proprietary round called 22 Remington autoloading. From what I've read, regular .22 cases will split or rupture in this rifle. It may just be a wall hanger>

OK...have you tried finding .22 Remington autoloading ammo at this site...

Old West Scrounger usually has hard to find antique ammo and supplies...

Thanks Shooter13,
I heard that old west scrounger had a batch of these cartridges made in 1970. They don't have any now. I did find a box here http://www.ammolady.com/id42.html for $65.00. Kind of pricey for .22. I thought I'd hang it on a wall but it turns out we don't have as many rifle walls as I thought we did at casa McD (lol). Thanks again.
