Hi I am about to change the stock on my 700 bdl hinged floorplate to one that is made for a clip. Can anyone tell me is there any modification needed to the action itself? Also this is in 260 Ackley Imp. will a clip that was made for a 243 or 308 work.
Thanks

Welcome to the Remington Owners Forum Willy1 !!

Most times the action won't need to be modified...just minor adjustments to the stock when fitting.

you shouldnt need to do any modification to the action itself. the only modification that you may need to do depending on which bottom metal you use is minor inletting or fitting for proper fit. you also may have to shave down on the mag release handle to properly seat the magazine under the action. as far as magazines, you can use the 308 mag for most LA and some SA loads after working with the mag and making it feed the bullet right.
Scouts Out!

Not sure if this original post is still active however I can share from personal experience that I converted my son's LH 700BDL into a bottom feed magazine quite easily.

Purchased the bottom feed housing, complete w/ new trigger guard and magazine from HS Precison. A little costly however I got exactly what I wanted. An effortless quick change magazine that has positive lock and does not rattle or come loose. You only need to specify Short or Long Action and the calibre for the magazine.

I was surprised that it only took a little over 2 minutes to remove a small amount of material from inside stock where BDL spring plate goes and just a little bit of metal where the new magazine enters breech feed rail area. All this was done with a dremel tool and does not compromise any safety features on the rifle. All total between disassembly, dremel fit and installation it took about 15 minutes.

Save your OEM spring plate and trigger guard should you want to ebay them or should want to restore original configuration prior to sale.
