I'm new to the forum and enjoying my R51. I have about 100 rounds through mine now and like the gun alot. While cleaning I decided to remove the grips to keep cleaner/oil from getting trapped behind them, anyhow long story short I seemed to have over tightened them and broke one of the screw heads off. I was able to get the threads out of the frame but now I'm unsure as to what thread size they are. I've taken one of the screws to my local hardware stores and haven't had any luck matching the thread size. I called Remington customer service and they were unable to tell me the screw size and said their were no parts available at this time. My only option would be to ship my gun to them and they would replace the screw and send it back. I'm sure I can find a replacement screw from fasteners inc or mcmaster carr online but I need to know the thread size. Can someone help me determine the thread size? I can determine the length, head size, ect but have no way of determining the thread size. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I say retarded on their part! No parts available to send you one screw but if you send your whole pistol to them they will magically have a screw to put in it. That's BS.
Take the one good screw you have with you to the local hardware store and start turning it into nuts to find the one it works in, then you will know what bolt/thread it is. They may even have a thread gauge there in the store to use. Or you can count to determine ... http://www.boltdepot.com/fastener-infor ... pitch.aspx |

Try Ace Hardware, mine has a screw template to check thread and length. Then you just have to find it in one of a hundred drawers. Also a good source for springs.
