I just committed to buying a never fired 760 made in 1960 and I think it is an ADL in .30-06. It has the machine cut checkering in the diamond patter. It has never had a scope mounted on it. My question is what scope would someone have used on this gun in 1960? I want to get a period correct scope mounted on this gun and I would like to stay with American made. I figure a Weaver C4 or a Redfield of some kind. Any thoughts on this?

Welcome from MI!!

Not real sure on the scope. My grandfather had several guns with Weaver scopes on them, many we still use today.

Thanks. I am looking at Weaver and Redfield. A Leupold would be nice if I could find one of the right vintage. What about Burris, were they made in the 60's?

Still looking for a scope. I think I may go with a Weaver K4. My gun is at the smith right now. There was a crack in the stock that he is going to stabilize and the trigger guard has a small dent that he is going to straighten. That gives me time to look for a scope.
