looking for value on an early model 721 in .30-06. this particular rifle was not drilled and tapped for scope mounts from the factory. I do know personally that when the scope was mounted the gunsmith was upset because he broke two of his taps because the receiver was so hard. the family story is that this one was the first one sold in St. paul, MN It is equipped with a 4x40 scope with a tippoff mount.

I will have to do some searching to see what a ballpark price would be for your Remington model 721 as I have not seen very many of these for sale. Do you happen to have any pictures of it?

What model is your 721? Standard, ADL, or BDL?

Assuming it's in very good to excellent condition, you're probably looking at $250-$300 in cash or trade-in value at a local dealer. It could be worth about $25-$50 more if it's ADL/BDL. From a serious Remington collector or in an auction it may fetch closer to $350-$450.

Here in Tucson a 721 goes out the door at about 300 usd. This is in average condition. gunshows are a little less than that now with the economy.
