XMAS present for daughter and myself was a Remington 700 SPS Tactical. Concern is that, based on recent long distance shooting lessons; a fixed dimension stock may be too long for her. At lesson, she couldn't probably use the scope on a fixed dimension stock but she was fine with an adjustable stock.
Would rather not spend more $$$ on putting an adjustable stock on this gun. Would we be able to vary the scope location by mounting a long mounting rail to the gun instead of direct mount scope rings?

Why not, at the range this morning a friend who is on the large size lent my daughter his 45-70 for a few shots, she couldn't get a decent sight picture through the scope so he just moved it back a few notches on the rail.
