Hello. I was handed down gun a few years back and this is an awesome gun and great for hunting. However the original scope is still on there. I am not a all the time hunter so I am not looking to spend huge amounts for a scope that will sit more than I use it. What is a good recommended inexpensive scope that is reliable for most hunting conditions, can take the recoil of the 742, and the built in specs for making it more light in darkening hours of the day for 100yds of distant. Make and model would be helpful. From what I have read, Redfield and higher end simmons would fit this bill. Thoughts?? Thanks so much for your info. :?:

Fairly inexpensive is the Bushnell Banner Dusk & Dawn 3-9x40 which is a good scope for under a hundred bucks. Lifetime Warranty, 1/4-MOA fingertip adjustments.

An ATI stock set on a 1955 16-ga Wingmaster would make Baby Jesus cry...........

Bushnell XLT is also a good choice in Addition to the Banner nitesite suggested. Got one on my 700 in 06. It holds zero. Good luck
