Back in 1981 I purchased a Model Four in 270 Win and have been more than satisfied with its functioning. Heard of some owners of Model 742s experiencing jamming issues and was wondering if this problem was remedied with the introduction of the Model Four and 7400. I know the bolt and conical gas system is different on the later models. My groups are usually 2 inches at 100 yards using 130 grain factory rounds which I hear is not bad with an autoloader of this type. Would like to hear from others who own a 7400 or Model Four that are satisfied with its performance.

I just received a Model Four in 270. I had to clean it "A lot" and it seems like a nice rifle

Glad you got one Frank. Mine has not given me any problems since 81. hang onto it as they did not make that many in 270 Win. Maybe 16,000 out of a total of 68,000. No jams with mine. looking forward to hearing about yours and the accuracy.
