I have both also and I lean toward the Remington for the trigger. 10/22 trigger is the first thing to be replaced on most buildups. my new 597 out of the box is under 5lbs and crispy. I also like the fact that magazines for the 597 are easily obtained anywhere. 10/22 is an excellent rifle. I just refer the way my 597 shoots.

I have limited experience with the Ruger, but I did some research before I bought my gun a little over a month ago, and this was what made up my mind to go with the 597: The 597 had a slightly longer stock, which fit me better as I'm around 6' tall, the hold open bolt after the last round without having to buy a mod, $40 less of an initial cost and the iron sights actually had full adjustment. I have had fun shooting the 10/22 when I've had the chance, and there are a lot more mods for it, but am glad that for my first autoloading .22 that I went with the 597.

May have to retract my words. Loving my new HB 597. Sorry for the doubt Mr. Remington. If you can't sell it don't buy it
