Hi All,
I have a Remington Peerless O/U that has performed flawlessly for many years.
Recently though the action will open when the top barrel is fired. This doesn't happen when the lower barrel is shot.
The gun is clean both inside and out so I'm pretty sure it's not just a build up of crud.
Anyone any clues on this?
Thanks in anticipation.

Welcome to the Remington Owners Forum Dave !!
Sounds like the action latch has loosen up... |

Thanks for all the replies. My buddy owns the same shotgun and after checking out the amount of "spring tension" in the top lever it appears that the Lever Springs are in need of replacing. I struggled finding them, there is an inner and outer spring, but eventually managed to acquire them from Numrich in the US.
Today I have started to disassemble the action but unfortunately I am only armed with a parts diagram from the internet. I proceeded VERY cautiously taking many pics of the disassembly. I am now at a standstill as I cannot see a way to remove the Top Lever from the rest of the action. If any of you guys have any tips or clues as to how to remove the Top Lever, I would be more than happy to hear them. Thanks again guys for your help so far. DaveD |
