I am not experienced in working on guns and need some direction.
I recently traded a 700 ADL in 270 for a .35 Whelen. It is a 721 receiver with a Remington Whelen barrel and aftermarket stock.
I discovered a problem with the safety.
With a round in the chamber and the safety off you can't move the safety to the safe position. If I raise the bolt I can move it to safe however it moves back to fire when the bolt is lowered. In order to stay in safe The bolt has to be opened all the way back, moved to safety and the bolt then can be closed and It will stay on safety.
Does anyone have any Idea what it is? I took it to a gun shop that does some work on guns but he also said he would have to do some research so I decided to ask here too.
Thanks for any help

Welcome to the Remington Owners Forum arky !!
Sorry, but I'm not familiar with that model or safety issue... |

Well the Smith did the research and found that the safety was acting as designed. It seems Remington had a lot of complaints and offered a fix back in the 70's. He could not find a description of the fix so I am going to leave it as is. I just wanted to know I could handle it safely.
