Hello all, I purchased my Versa Max last Monday and took it to the range for some patterning on Tuesday. Mind you that I live in the south where buckshot and hounds go hand in hand. I found a good combination with a full choke and #1 Buckshot but the pattern is about 8# low. I sure hope that Remington sells drop and cast spacers for the Versa Mask. I have been on hold with Remington for over an hour. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

God Bless, Bigtime!!!

Is your Versa Max the new sportsman? If so they dont have the adj. stock like the original VMAX. If it is not a sportsman version it should have the adjustment spacer in the box. Did you look in the owners book?

I finally got someone from Remington on the phone and they are sending me two more adjustment plates. Thanks for the information.

Big Time,

The Versa Max comes with two adjustment plates as shown on page 16 in your manual. Are these what you are referring to, or do you mean that Remington is sending you two more "Comb" inserts as shown on page 16, picture 17a.

You state that you are shooting low and your point of impact needs to move up about 8 inches.

With shotguns your eye is considered the rear sight and we always want to move the rear sight in the direction we want our pattern to go.
So, make sure that you have your stock mounted thru stock plate "B" and hole "BC" as this will raise you eye the highest with the factory stock.
If this is not high enough, then install the next highest Comb insert available from Remington.

Good luck!
JM

Has anyone noticed wear on the cam pin? How much should be the norm? I smoothed out the rough edges with a fine stone file before reasembly. Still runs perfect but this looks like something to keep an eye on.

In the topic I started over in SGW there has recently been two or three reports of cam pin wear. Contact remington and they will send you new ones.
I think a few got out of the plant softer than they should be.

update on Bigtime,

I spoke with him on the phone and he was actually shooting low and right. He had the stock adjusted to Plate "A" and hole "TL"?
I had him move to Plate "A" and hole "BR" as he is a left handed shooter. This should put him right on target.

He should be shooting it about now 8-)

This is my first question on this web site. TuJAYS says you can shoot steel in a Versa Max predater/turkey choke. I agree that this choke does not have "for lead only". But so many manufactures insist on not shooting steel in this type choke. Do you have any definitive info from Remington about this? Thanks!

Yes, that is where I got my info. Call them yourself if you do not believe me 1-800-243-9700.

Also in your VM manual on page 10 under the heading "The Choke Tube", read the last warning in red.

Attempting to upload a picture of the cam pin from my new Versa Max. This is the pin after less than 75 rounds of light, 2 3/4" shot. It doesn't appear to hamper the function, it just looks ugly and makes me wonder if it will eventually shed that burr forming on the end. The service department happily sent me a new pin which I installed, then inspected after only 8 rounds. It already has the beginnings of the same kind of scuffing. The slot in the bolt has no markings at all. I'll keep an eye on it but shouldn't this pin be hardened? Is anyone else seeing what I see?
