Finally got the Raasco grips in and put on with the Gold grip screws. Also added the Wilson trigger for a little tighter fit. Shows the thick flange end cap. Also shows the Kimber 8 round magazine, I like the Kimber 8 round because unlike the Remington 8 round that came with it the magazine bottom is flat metal and even with the grip Magwell.

I have seen and heard about allot of Remington R1 1911's. They all look great, but I never see many of the . Remington 1911 r1 100th anniversary Models. I chose mine because they took me back to the High Standard Victors, earlier Colts that had that beautiful bluing and engraving on them along with the gold trim, and the Winchester's. I guess this is not popular as we have moved into the tactical era. However, this Remington just got under my skin and I had to have it. I hesitate to shoot it I wish to retain it's craftsmanship finish and engraving. Is there any more of them out there or did they not sell well. Tried to post a picture, but I don't think it attached. Really would like to know if anyone still likes a well blued and engrave gun or my time is past?

Well, your time might be past! :) I know mine is.
I love a well blued gun, very much. And subtle engraving looks great on some firearms, but I personally don't care for the overly heavy gold engraving, or the guns that are 99% covered with engraving.
To each his own. If you really like the R1 anniversary model and have the cash, then go on a "quest" to get another one and shoot that one. Keep one for posterity.

Bought My son a new Remington R1 Centennial model, for His birthday, which is during mid-summer.
He's due back from the middle east in about 5 or 6 weeks.
The pistol is all registered with His permit bureau, and all that's needed is visit the gun dealer and fill out form 4473.
I don't have any actual images of this 1911, but if it's OK, here's an internet image of that model.
Will have real images plus the son's ear to ear grin, later on!

That's one fine gift! Can't wait for the happy photos.
You say he's coming back from the Middle East ... A heartfelt "Thank you for your service" I'll send to him through you, if I may.

I bought this beautiful Commander 10 days ago. She's the first Remington I've personally owned and so far I am VERY pleased. Very tight like I expected, with no rattles. This pic was taken just when I got her home and before I cleaned her up. She's fully range ready now. Thank you all for letting me share!
