Picked up an R1 Carry last Friday. It has been in the display case at one of the LGS that I frequent on a regular basis. They have had this gun for a long time. Every time I walked by that display, it called out to me. Since I did not have any 5" 1911's in my inventory, I finally gave in and brought it home.
No surprises, the gun functions perfectly, the sights are regulated very well. POA and POI are the same. The slide feels like it is on roller bearings. Have never felt a slide that smooth on a production gun.
Downside, the ambi safety is at a very odd angle and my normal grip will activate the safety (from the right side) every time I fire the gun. Simple solution, since I don't care for ambi safeties, I replaced it with a Colt style , left side safety. Problem solved. :D

The R1 Carry is on my short list, which is getting pretty long! Glad to see it's working well for you.
Enjoy!!!
