So I was at the range the other day when I started talking to a Range Officer about ammo. I told him that I had been buying/using Federal 12ga shells from Wal Mart since it was cheap ($22.97/100 Rounds) He told me to stay away from Federal because of the primers. He said that the way they were made is causing firing pins to break. Has anybody heard anything remotely close to this statement?

I have been using the Federal shells from Walmart for quite some time now without any issues. My Mossberg 500 has well over 5000 rounds through it and is still going strong. I will do some research on this to see if there is anyone else having this issue.

I'll have to go with Dan on this one, I have been using the Walmart loads for quite some time and have not had any problems with them. I do get the occasional round or two that misses a step in the production of the round, which makes it more or less a blank round, but that happens with any mass production ammunition.
