I only got to shoot a handful of miscellanous the shop gave me but it feels really good. The trigger pull is great for a new out of the box 1911 and my understanding is that these have the firing pin block.

I've read that these are supposed to be shooters so I put my target out at about 20 yards. I got a good group. Next plan is to run about 100 rounds through it for some break in and see how it does.

I do have a question though. Is the barrel bushing supposed to be this snug and is the guide rod spring supposed to be this light? I can push it in easily with my finger. Getting the bushing off though requires the wrench and it almost seems to have a little scratchy sound when I remove it. Should I maybe polish the barrel bushing lightly?

Hi. Welcome to the forum....

If you are pushing the slide back out of battery about 5/8" before turning the barrel bushing then you shouldn't ever need the wrench. You shouldn't try to turn the barrel bushing when the slide is in full battery or even 1/4" pushed back.

The recoil spring tension is a bit subjective to me but a stock 1911 recoil spring is set to 16-pounds.

I am familiar with a few 1911's people have let me try and the recoil spring seems to be light to me if I can depress the end of the guide rod cap with just my thumb. I got out and ran 50 or so rounds through the gun and it is shooting fine though.

The gun shoots much better than me which is great because it gives me room for improvement. I only have 1 other hand gun that I can realistically even practice shooting at 20 yards or more and that is a Ruger Mark 3 target that I had a trigger job done on. I still managed to keep my whole last group(2 mags) in the head zone at 20 yards.

I will try that 5/8ths inch thing. I didn't think it felt or sounded right to make this sort of a noise.

It appears to work fine but I just don't like this guide rod type. I don't plan to change it though.

Thanks I'm glad to be here. These Remmy 1911's must be dang near perfect because the forum is practically dead, LOL. Mine has been a perfect shooter so far but I have only run 230 ball through it so far. I am going to try a few hollow points but I don't see a problem. The other 1911 I tried would not cycle hollow points and stupid me, I gave a box away.

I tried that slide it back around 5/8ths and it works fine that way. I actually cleaned my gun too although it was not very dirty. This is my first stainless hand gun and it shows every little bit of spent powder charge. I am now seeing places I probably should do a better job on with my black guns.
