Hi this will be my very first post on this forum. I figured if anyone could answer me it would be you guys. I just picked up a brand new AAC SD .308. Been waiting on it for about 2 weeks, my local dealer didn't have any in stock so I had to order it. I've had my hands on it for a few hours, just trying to get a feel for it. But man! The bolt is super super stiff when you go to close it. It pulls back fine, and it goes forward fine. And without a round in it it closes ok, still not great. But if I try and load a round it takes a good bit of effort just to get the bolt Handel locked down. Along with bringing it back up to retract it. It's winchester 142 grain 308 ammo. Just wanted cheap stuff to break in the barrel. I don't think it's the ammo. I've already cleaned the snot out of the bolt, disassembled the bolt and cleaned the firing pin. Cleaned the whole rifle, thinking maybe metal shavings left behind from the factory. But it's still super hard to get the bolt closed completely. Can anybody shed some light for me. Should I take it back to the dealer who I got it from? Maybe he will swap it out, I dunno. What do you guys think?

I would field strip and lube it up real good...then reassemble and try it out... |

Ok so just to give you guys an update. I did a little investigating, and I found a flat spot and a bulge right inside the chamber. Where the rim of the case would seat. I took the rifle back to my dealer & he swapped me for a brand new one. This one is flawless. I love the feel of it. Although I believe I will be replacing the houge stock with probly a choate. I haven't gotten a chance to shoot it yet, but I have dry fired it once (just once. I don't like dry firing ) just to feel the trigger. Why does everyone hate on the ex mark trigger so bad? To me it feels nice and crisp. Maybe 3 or so lbs. I can't really tell without shooting it. But as of what I've felt. I may just keep it. It's just that everyone I talk to is like. "The ex suck trigger and the stock is trash" I don't see a problem with either, except for the fact that I do want a free floated barrel while using a bipod. Anyway, just thought I'd let you know my conclusion on my problem. Do I need to break this barrel in? If so how should I do it? New precision shooter here.
