Hi All,
I've got a classic field in 28 ga., and I would like to use it for duck hunting. My fiancee wants me to take her, and the gun fits her very well. I'm looking for opinions on how the barrel will stand up to steel shot. I purchased the gun new in 2007, so I would assume it would be able to handle it, but this may not be the case. Any input is appreciated. thanks

It will handle steel shot just fine; good luck finding ammo!!!
Federal and Winchester both make 28 gauge steel with 5/8 ounce of #6 or #7 shot, Hevi shot makes a reduce charge load called "classic doubles" with 5/8 ounce of #4, 5, 6, & 7 1/2 shot. They also make a Hevi Shot Duck Shotshell with 3/4 ounce of #4 or #6 shot going at 1300 feet per second at the muzzle. http://www.ableammo.com/catalog/cheap-g ... tml?page=1 Over decoys at distances inside 30 yards she should be able to do fine with it.....tell her to concentrate on the head of the bird and nothing else....be safe and have fun. We have done so much for so long with so little, we are now qualified to do anything with nothing!
