Scope and Scope Mount

Can anyone help with the scope mount height for 40mm and 50mm objective lens scopes? Also, any recommendations on brand of scope and mount would be appreciated.

Old rule of thumb generally 50mm = high rings, 40mm=med rings. But there are far to many factors, barrel contour, scope brand, shooters phisical size, caliber of rifle, intended use and so on. When buying a scope try to look through it oudoors. Don't let the price make up your mind. Buy the scope that fits your use and your eyes. Very personal preference. If you can't sell it don't buy it

Shooter and VMAX thanks for your replies. Yes, I did 30 years in the Marine Corps and have a son whose a Marine in Afghanistan now.
Also, I've hunted with Remington shotguns and rifles since I was a kid and I've always been impressed by the quality and reliability which is why I decided on the R25. I'm anxious to shoot it. |

Nice to meet you WoodrowUSMC. I also have alway used Remington and work hard to keep their good name. Keep us posted on your new R25. They look great.
