I just bought a new 12ga 11-87 Sportsman. When I was looking through the box I noticed an extra ring. It looks like it would go over the gas tube, but I'm unsure. I tried to read the owners manual, but I didn't see any pieces that matched the specific one that was left over in the box. Anyone know what this is? Is it the cardboard shipping ring? Any help is appreciated.

Could you post a pic of the ring in question...don't want to guess without seeing it ! |

I can't get the picture to upload on here for some reason. If you got an email I can send to you that way. Right now, I'm afraid to shoot the thing for fear of breaking something. Imagine that, I get a brand new gun and can't even shoot it. This is killing me.

that is an activator its used if you are shooting light loads, don't use it with the 3" or 3.5"s.its to help with the gas system with light loads
