Trulock Choke Review- Precision Hunter (Skeet 1, Skeet 2, Improved Modified, Extra Full, Turkey .665, Tactical Breacher)
http://www.trulockchokes.com/ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() First Impression: Impressive is the only word I can use to describe these chokes; having both great fit and finish. I like that the Trulock chokes are clearly marked allowing for easy identification of the choke. This is quite a contrast from the factory Remington chokes that come with the Remington 11-87.. Installation: Simply remove your existing choke with a choke tool and install the Trulock choke with a snug fit. Use: Not only are these chokes great looking but they are extremely functional. They do exactly as they are designed to which is all that you can ask for from a choke tube. After throwing lots of lead down range with these chokes I am extremely pleased with the results and would highly recommend these to anyone looking for a choke tube. The other major benefit of going with the Trulock choke tubes is that you get amazing customer service!!! All of my shotguns from this point out will run Trulock chokes ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

My 11-87 came with a factory Remington MOD choke. Is this factory choke good for lead and steel? Or just lead? I've pondered the wild west internet for the answer on this, but to no avail. I'm going on a duck hunt here in a couple weeks and don't know if I should invest in a choke that is specifically for steel or just stick with what I got.
Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face

I use my remington modified choke with remigton express 000 buckshot. It patterned better than 00 and I tried the 00 in modified and full choke. It exploded skeets great with the modified choke though. For duck hunting though I can't be of any help

All RemChokes up through Modified are good for lead or steel. They also make a Full that is rated just for lead, and another that is rated for Lead or Steel, and it will say that right on the choke tube. They did make an Improved Modified and I have one of those as well. I have shot and patterned about all the brands, and I have not found anything to be a big advantage over any other as long as the constriction was equal. The Muller Mafia will regale you with many tales of why they are so fantastic, but the thing I think they are best at is separating you from your money. I think I currently have RemChokes, Briley's, Colonials, Trulocks, Carlson's, and one $10 RedHead I bought at BassPro in my inventory, and they all work fine. The constriction versus barrel diameter is the big determinant. Some Full these days are 0.030", and for years Full was 0.040", and some still are. Know what you have.
What could have happened... did.

I like Indian Creek Shooting Systems Chokes. I use a .665 dia. For turkey hunting. I also a Kicks Gobblin Thunder .665 and a Pure Gold .670. They are all good turkey choke tubes. My flush mount chokes are all factory Remington chokes. I do have some Factory extended sporting clays chokes.
