For Remington's 50th Anniversary they decided to make a limited addition 700 BDL. It features

24" barrel with adjustable rear and hooded ramp front sight
Satin-finished "B" grade walnut stock with Fleur-Di-Lis checkering
Satin bluing over 24" barreled action
50-year commemorative laser-engraved hing floorplate
X-Mark Pro externally adjustible trigger set at 3-1/2 lbs. from the factor

I suppose it does represent what a 700 looked like 50 years ago, but honestly, it doesn't do much for me, particularly in comparison to the CDL that is right below it in one of the pictures. When I initially heard about it, I was kinda excited, but seeing pics turned me away. White line spacers, machine pressed 'checkering'. Yuk.

I was looking through the 2012 Remington catalog I downloaded (I frigging hate .pdf catalogs!) and I kind of feel that Big Green is dropping the ball lately. Outside of the new Mountain Rifle (the only way you can get a .280, it looks to me, no more XCR II) and the M7 Predator, and a couple of Tac rifles, there wasn't a whole lot there to interest me. I suppose I might pick up one of the SPS versions of the Sendero in 7mm Mag, and rechamber it to 7mm Mashburn Super.

Yea I thought Remington would have done something bigger too for their 50th. Even the way they displayed it wasn't any different then the way they showed the rest of their collection for 2012.

Hell, my 700BDL was made in 1980, so it's 32 years old already !!

I purchased my Remington 700 BDL 7MM Mag. in August of 1968. I hope the new one is as good as mine has been.
