I am big about the rods and brush being pulled in the same direction the round leaves the chamber, so we gently ran the rod down the barrel and attached the bore brush with the rod sticking into the receiver side.

we ran the brush, three passes, each time screwing the brushes on , in the receiver on the back side of the barrel, then two cotton swab passes.

the manual list barrel cleaning prior to field strip/break down, i thought it was easier to breakdown the rifle then clean all internals and last barrel, then place back together...

question though.....

1) is there a trick to get the springs on the alignment rods, i was able to make it happen pretty fast, but there has to be a trick the manual does not address.......

Good work on the cleaning, I'm yet to do mine as waiting on my RFD to get a .22 boresnake in stock!
In terms of your question - i think it's just a case of what works for you. I have relatively small fingers so find it much easier that i thought i would. It's fiddly but not too bad. I've seen a tool for sale (can't remember where sorry), but don't see the need personally.

If you think you had probs with the springs, be thankful you don't have the .22 WMR. There are springs within the springs. Thankfully I had a friend who was familiar with it and got it put back together again.

Wow maybe a good thing I bought a bolt 22 magnum! Love semi-auto but hate any BS.
