Hi all .Just bought the 783 in 308 .I expect this question has cropped up so apologies for repeating it .The spec implies the barrel is fully floated but its far from it and before I ream it out should it be floated or should it be as the stock is made .Also what factory ammo do you suggest I try through it without having to buy boxes and boxes to arrive at a load .Thanks for any advice in advance :)

First off, I'd shoot the rifle for accuracy without touching anything. It may already be a shooter. Don't worry about aero initially, just see if it will shoot a 3-4 shot group consistently. What ammo to try? You have to specify your "target" audience. Are you looking for a 150-165 grain load, the sweet spot for .308's? Or do you want a heavier 175 grain load? No two rifles will shoot the exact same, but I'll give ya a hint - Remington probably uses their own brands of ammo to proof test the rifle at the factory. Start with those.
