I found this pistol to be a very light weight, small package. I put nearly 200 rounds through it with one misfeed. I used Remington 115gr FMJ.
It is quite accurate too. The Pederson Hesitation Lock mutes the recoil quite a bit. This lightweight gun does not have much recoil. The slide force needed to cock is very low imo. Once you get used to the trigger release characteristics, patterns shrink big time.
I think I am going to like it.
Cleaning the pistol takes more time than usual, but this will go faster after a few more take downs.
I noticed that I put some scratches on my barrel bushing during the install process. I guess I can try to buff them out. Anyone else find that they have scratched up their bushing?

Glad to hear you find the R-51 a fine firearm.

I have a few scratches on my barrel bushing too. It's difficult to avoid.
The R51 has a nice balance and feel. I shoot smaller groups with the R51 than any other pistol I own or have tried. Takedown gets much easier once you used to it. It's really no more complicated than a 1911 IMHO. |

This weekend I put another 4 full magazines through the pistol with no problems whatsoever. Not sure if they all run well now, or I just got a good one. Field stripping and reassembly was much easier now that I have done it a few times.

I'll bet they all are fine now.

My $100 rebate arrived this week, btw.

Well that's good to know, given Remington's economic woes. NRA Life Retired USN
