Well, new to me anyway.

My wife saw this listed locally and after I went and looked at it this evening, I was glad that I did.

It's not one of those assemble by numbers press-wood sawdust cabinets.

It's oak.

And probably 300 pounds of it. :o

Not bad for $60 and a little effort loading and hauling it home.

Has enough notches for 10 guns, and 2 shelf storage underneath that seemed like a good spot to put some powder and primers.

Not sure whether to take the man at his word, but he said he paid $600 for it new at one of our local furniture stores about 8 years ago but judging at how well it's built, it's put together right.

Regardless, it looks pretty good in my den.

Yeah, it's got more than $60 worth of raw lumber in it. Not counting the hardware and glass.

When my wife showed me the ad, I couldn't tell her to reply fast enough. There were at least a half dozen folks after my initial post asking for dibs if I backed out.

It's more of an old school decorative case. Not a safe by any means, but I like it.

There's a small scratch about middle way up the cabinet on the left side in the back about 2 inches long and maybe 3/16" wide, but you can't even see it unless you're going over the entire cabinet looking for blemishes. I'll touch up that spot with some gloss minwax polyurethane this weekend. :ugeek:

Heck of a deal for $60. Nice find.

Thanks Mike. I'm happy about it too. I don't fall into these kinds of deals very often.

Very nice and it is a pure pleasure to admire our guns at home. had a wood and glass case back in the early 70s but switched to a steel locker when my kids came along. Still I miss seeing the collection behind glass.

Used to be that every rural home had one like that, for filling the freezer when fall came. Now we're so much more suburbanized/urbanized and it's very un-PC to display that, especially since there are way too many folks looking for things to steal to support drug habits and such. It makes you sad for what we've become over time.

I agree scorpion. Our society is in really poor shape. People would sell their own mother for a pill these days.

But I'm not a very PC type of guy. You can ask anyone that knows me. Even for those that don't, usually don't take too long to figure it out. ;)

I'm either known as the sweet old man that would give you the shirt off his back, or the crazy old Indian that lives at the end of the street that you don't want to mess with. Whichever opinion you have, is probably deserved.

Metal and especially fireproof safes are really nice. You'll get no disagreement from me there. I understand the need and desire for them.

But you men know where I'm coming from having a gun case in your man cave with a few antlers and mounts hanging around.

That's just how I roll.

Some of the other unique things that you may see in my den.

And if those doesn't give thieves a hint they're at the wrong place, maybe this is more direct. It's on the end table beside my couch. It's a life size 1018 steel target that weighs about 6 pounds.

yes, that is a bullet hole between its' eyes.

I thought it was ar500 steel, and after the first shot, was apparent that it wasn't.

Very very nice. I would have considered it for $60.

Thanks.

I've certainly wasted more money on less in my day.

This was a well made cabinet.
