Had some trouble getting an account here so am very glad to be in now. Software Architect and family man in Western PA who enjoys going to the range as often as I have the chance. I am mostly a Ruger guy (love my single action revolvers) but I do shoot sporting clays with a much beloved 1979 1100 and I recently bought a Remington 1911 R1 Enhanced instead of the Ruger SR1911 (which I will probably get later). Appreciate classic firearms and a historic company like Remington (despite the more modern changes and problems). Looking forward to getting further educated on this forum.

Welcome HPD 72. Clay shooter myself and use an 1100 myself. Believe mine is a 79 made gun according to barrel code. Bought new in 80. Have hunted deer in the Westfield/Potter county area in the past. My 700 scored a few whitetails there. Nice country.

Thanks! Yes, we love living here. Great place to raise a family.

As for my 1100, I bought it from the original owner who had it sitting in his safe for 15 years after he switched to a Beretta Silver Pigeon. It was very well maintained but I had a lot of trouble with ejection failures basically because it had a 26" field barrel with very small gas ports and didn't like light loads. I finally switched over to a 28" target contour barrel and have had no trouble since (though I need to do a real test when it gets cold as that's when it was performing the worst).
