Sounds like Federal is coming out with a new HST personal defense round that's made specifically for short barrel guns like the RM380. From what I saw it had the bullet set back in the case and it looked like a wad cutter. It cuts down the open space between the bullet and the powder which is supposed to increase efficiency.

I'll be looking for reviews because the normally efficient rounds shot out of midsized barrels don't do very well in the pocket guns. If anyone hears anything post it especially if it mentions efficiency.

I recall reading that the caliber for that round is 38 Special.

Dave your right. Looks like it's only .38 and it also looks like it wouldn't feed right in an auto. I did see a review that made me reconsider using Gold Dot ammo. It looks like the Corbon DPX might be something to consider due to its performance. Trouble is I can't get ammo shipped to me and most gun shops near me don't carry Corbon. I can't even find Gold Dot. One shop owner said it was too expensive. For him or us? I'll post if they make a .380 round with good spec's

Corbon does make A DPX in .380. It's an 80 grain all copper Barnes bullet. I've been reading about the all copper bullets and they seem superior to the bonded ones out there.

I did a bit of ballistic research on 380 gel tests on YouTube. The best ammo I saw was the new Ruger ARX. It outperformed various HPS in both penetration and wound channel in both bare gel and barrier draped gel. Pretty amazing stuff. Cuts down on recoil too. I bought 50 rounds to try, but won't get to the range until next week.

I've used the Polycase Inceptor ARX round in both 9MM and .45 ACP...in home made ballistic gelatin tests...it performs well.

And it's safe to shoot steel with up close...as it fragments on impact by design.
