I don't think I'm a new member. took me a while to remember my password but I logged in yesterday with my pre-existing account. Kindo remember introducing myself years ago but it could be I'm thinking of a different forum.
I live in CA. I'm 60 years old. I'm a nuclear engineer, physicist, and machinist. I build my own rifles and shoot benchrest, F-open, and precision rifle. Generally I use a remington 700 action but I've been known to use surgeon, stiller, AICS and reluctantly savage.
I have a few old Remington's including a fieldmaster 572 (pump 22) like my dad had when I was a kid, a model 512 which is the bolt action tube fed predecessor to the 572, a 1903a3, and an R700 in 7Mag from the first year of manufacture with a period correct Leopold scope. the scope anodizing is fading from black to burgundy.
Always willing to help out, especially with the more technical side of shooting that my education allows me a good understanding.

Welcome Carlsbad. Glad to hear your a 700 fan like myself. Mine is an 84 built ADL when they made some changes concerning the stock which has a satin finish and finally included sling swivel studs. High polish bluing looks like a mirror.

Wel.l.l.l.l Not sure what happened there but I can get pretty verbose. I probably joined here, got distracted, and ended up posting in another Remington forum. I was looking for manufacturing date codes in 2013 IIRC. I just ordered red annodized bolt shroud and bolt knob for my new 338 LM bolt. wish someone would answer the question about 338 LM actions...are they identical to the 30-06 action bodies? thanks, Jerry |

Sounds very nice. What letter does the SN start with? --Jerry |

Serial no. starts with B carlsbad. Glad I bought when I did. Liked the flared forend and walnut better than the older ADL they had. This gun replaced a post 64 Win. Model 70 with the worst trigger ever. Sorry cannot be of more help with your question. |
