Ok guy's

As I have stated. I just purchased a Remington 540X. I do not have the rifle for it yet but the scope came in today. I am going to need to take the Redfield sights off and want plugs for the sight holes.

So here is the question, does anyone know what size the sight holes are ? 6-48 or 8-40 is my guess but not sure which one to purchase.

Thanks in advance.

Well guy's I just ordered both sizes so I would have them when I got the rifle in.

I received the rifle today 2-15-2017. Love having another one in my possession. I took off the Redfield (I think that is what they are called ) sights put the filler screws in the sight holes and mounted a new Mueller 8-32X44 on her. The barrel code indicates she was made in June 1973. Still mulling over redoing the stock. But Love the way she looks.

I do have to do one thing though. Someone took out the end screw that holds the bottom channel in the stock. They then put a sling swivel screwed up into that hole. It works really well but would rather have it back to the way it came from the factory.

Anyway here are a couple of pictures even one with it 's adopted little Brother. A 14" Thompson Center Contender.
