There seems to be very little activity in the V3 forum, is it because Remington has been slow to introduce more V3 models or are there some real issues with the V3 ?

Full disclosure; I work for an FFL that is looking at the V3 as a possible tactical and 3Gun platform gun and I'm looking for a little feedback from real Remington shooters.

No advertising here, more like market research. I know I'm threading the needle, but I'm here as a private member with no signals about our shop.

I have a V3 and done some mods to it and it is a fast, easy shooting gun, but I'm looking forward to your thoughts.

I'm headed to Shot Show and I'll report back on the new V3 offerings.

So far Remington has been so busy filling orders they have been slow to introduce new models - the Walnut 12 gauge just hit the shelves. Appears to be an excellent platform.

Been reading this thread with great interest myself. A 20 gauge version should be out sometime this year I read. Sounds like a excellent platform is right. Aluminum receiver on this one. Really don't care for that matte finish however.

Just back from SHOT Show, only 4 V3 models on display; two camo, one matte finish with poly stocks and one with walnut stocks. All 28" barrel field guns. There had been a rumor that Remington was going to introduce a tactical model similar to their VersaMax Tactical, but no dice... a little disappointing that there has been no new product development on this model, it seems to have so much potential.

The vast majority of the tactical market is pump guns. The majority of the semi market is targets and hunting. I hear they will not have a 20 gauge probably before 2018 because 1) they are selling all the 12s they can make, and 2) the design will be fully vetted before they release it for sale with a lifetime warranty. It appears Remington has taken the lessons learned to heart.

True enough that real hard core "tactical" shotguns are pump guns, primarily because of their unquestionable advantage in reliability. But the plethora of accessories for pump guns also make building them in more configurations far easier. And although they may seldom be deployed for actual "tactical" use, the growing popularity of 3Gun, Steel Challenge, etc. and the use of semi-auto guns that need to be set up for that kind competition would seem to be a good fit for an appropriately outfitted V3.

I am encouraged that Remington is apparently re-committing to building high quality, reliable semi-auto shotguns and providing a lifetime warranty would definitely go a long way to building confidence in a new 20 ga product.

Agree RM 12GA. Would definitely give one in 20 ga. a look. Wonder myself if they would replace the 1100 down the road but as with the 11-87 many preferred the 1100 so production of the 1100 continued. Still I love the lines of the older 1100 myself.

I don't see the 1100 for clay target uses and light field use going away any time soon. A lot of people still like blued STEEL and walnut. The 11-87 is a good reliable less expensive alternative for those who don't have to have the latest thing in a hunting gun, and the fact that it has so much in common with the 1100 may keep it around for a long time as well. With the 1100, 11-87, V3, and VersaMax Remington still doesn't have the vast array of models of Benelli or Beretta.

Hope you are correct Virginian. My TB trap 1100 has proven a great clays shooter since 1980. Would grab a LT 3 inch 20 for the right price but they can be hard to come by. Think many holdin onto these classics these days.

I picked one up a year ago and im loving it. Its no work of art like the old premiers. It is what it is...a light utility shotgun that will go bang every time you pull the trigger....even if you never clean it! more manageable recoil as well.
