I haven't seen any posts yet on the 300 Win Mag model 783.
It is very possible I missed one though. I am new to this computer thing and posting on line
If any members have a 300 WM I'd like to hear their impression of it.
As for me, so far the only thing I'd change is the scope. That's not to say the one that came on it, a Hunan(?) is a bad one. I just believe that a nice Nikon Prostaff BDC or something similar would be more fitting to a rifle this nice. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me to spend 3 - 10 times more than the rifle for a scope.
So far using 150 grain Remington Core-lock rounds I am hitting 1 gallon milk jugs at 300 yards with no problem. For these old eyes that's not to bad
Does anyone else have the 300 Win Mag?

Thank you very much SHOOTER13 !! I don't own gun safes full of firearms but the few I do have pretty much cover any possible application I could need. I am getting to really like this Remington 783. Right out of the box, literally, it is putting 3 - 3 1/2 inch shot groups at 100 yards with 150 grain rounds and no adjustments yet at all. While that's not great accuracy it's not bad for out of the box. Except the gun shop I bought it at did bore sight it for me. That says a lot about Remington's quality control to me. Not a single FTL or FTF or FTE after about 100 rounds so far. Thank God for the Super Cell butt pad or I may not be raising my right arm very much to swear to any of this. LOL That 300 Win Mag is a serious firearm. Maybe a bit over the top for normal use but hey... I love the power of that round. I am glad to be a member here. Some very intelligent members here that are very knowledgeable about Remington firearms or firearms in general. Knowledge and Safety are vital when it comes to weapons of any kind. After some considerable time firing this .300 Win Mag 783 I have to say that after just bore sighting it and very small amount of clicks on the scope this 783 is amazingly accurate.
1" to 1 1/4" groups at 100 yards and 2 1/2" groups at 200 yards. Hitting one gallon water jugs at 250 and 300 yards with almost perfect consistency. I'm sure the misses were my error. I'd say for these very old eyes that just isn't bad at all. Not one single FTL or FTF , handles every load from 150 grain to 200 grain rounds with no issue. Though the 200 grain rounds have some significant recoil but that is to be expected verses the 150 Grain ones. I find the action to be very smooth on mine. Nice positive lock up when seating the bolt. Magazine's feed perfectly and insert and remove flawlessly. The trigger for me at the factory setting is just perfect. Breaks like a glass rod. I don't see how one can get a better rifle at this price point. Remington has really built a completely redesigned from the ground up 700 series rifle in the 783. Especially if your more concerned with function over looks. That's my story and I'm sticking to it (:-) It is a serious caliber firearm but I have always liked bigger calibers. Thanks for review vietnam vet. Sounds like remington has done they"re homework on this model. Have read a few reviews and most are all positive. Sounds to me like the 783 should give the Ruger American series a good run for the money. Guess some decent quality and accuracy can still be had if one can live without many of the frills. Still like my 84 made 700. Accurate and still get a thrill out of staring at that mirror like high polish bluing.

I've handled the Ruger American and it has nothing over the 783.
